RECURRENCE
SURVIVAL
EXTRA-COSTS
A "Positive Surgical Margin" following cancer resection often necessitates adjuvant treatments and carries significant financial and prognostic implications.
In vivo decision
Making the right decision is frequently related to the doctor's visual assessment during surgery,.Sometimes it is difficult to differentiate between normal tissue and cancer cells...And what happens just below the surface?
The histologic reference
A "Positive Surgical Margin" remains a surgical challenge in most common solid cancers. Treatment algorithms vary considerably depending on cancer site and stage, but complete surgical excision with histologic confirmation remains mandatory.
The goal of Mohs surgery is to remove all of the skin cancer without damaging the healthy skin around.
This process of removing a thin layer of skin and looking at it under a microscope continues until the doctor no longer can see any cancer cells...
Every layer removed means:
CerebroSpinal Fluid leakage occurs in various situations after spine surgery (5,2 Million procedures in 2017), brain surgery or ENT surgery and after brain trauma (2% of all closed traumatic brain injuries : 1,2-1,4 Million per year). No disposable product on the market is capable of performing a real time in-vivo diagnosis for micro breach to avoid severe and costly complications.
Amniotic fluid leakage (more than 3% of all pregnancies and approximately a third of the 15 Million pre-term births per year) occurs when premature rupture of membranes, leading to a greater risk of complications (fetal distress and severe infections). Currently there is no low-cost sensor on the market to provide accurate real time diagnostic.
In case of Deep Endometriosis, which prevalence is estimated to be approximately 20% of all women with endometriosis (185 Million women worldwide), conservative complete surgery using the “shaving technique” can preserve organs, nerves and the vascular blood supply, yielding a high pregnancy rate and low complications (digestive++) and recurrence rate.
Cancer is the number one disease causing fatality to PETS. Almost one in two dogs over the age of 10 years will develop cancer. As a general rule, if a primary tumor can be completely excised with acceptable morbidity, surgery is the best choice of treatment. The usual objective of surgery is to obtain wide surgical clear margins in all directions surrounding the tumor.
Sur'Touch will develop a large range of ground breaking surgical, medical and veterinary devices designed to improve outcomes whilst dramatically reducing costs allowing clinicians to perform a heightened level of surgery with a greater assurance for patients.
